— The Boxcar Lilies —
The Boxcar Lilies is an Americana trio from Massachusetts that has been wowing audiences with its lovely vocal harmonies since forming in 2009. The group has received accolades for its signature mix of folk, country, and bluegrass-tinged Americana music featuring spine-tingling, innovative harmonies and top-notch songwriting. Accompanying themselves on guitar, electric bass, washboard and cajon, Jenny Goodspeed, Stephanie Marshall and Susan Cattaneo have brought their uniquely warm sound and genuine and charming stage presence to venues and festivals up and down the Eastern seaboard and beyond.
Falcon Ridge Folk Festival attendees voted the engaging trio “Most Wanted to Return” artists following the festival’s annual Emerging Artists Showcase in 2013, while The Boxcar Lilies also secured coveted official showcases at International and Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conferences and impressed FMSH concertgoers during a previous appearance here.
— Low Lily —
Low Lily is a Vermont-based string and vocal trio that explores the roots and branches of American folk music with traditional influences and modern inspiration that weaves together a unique brand of acoustic music. Liz Simmons (vocals and guitar) Flynn Cohen (vocals, guitar, and mandolin) and Lissa Schneckenburger (vocals and fiddle) are masterful players with deep relationships to traditional music styles ranging from bluegrass to Irish, Scottish, New England, and Old Time Appalachian sounds. When you combine this with stellar composition skills and inventive arrangements, you get music that is rooted yet contemporary. As PopMatters notes, Low Lily has “an incredible knack for putting a little pop twist on a traditional folk/Americana sound.”
“House Carpenter,” the opening track on the trio’s recent self-titled album, debuted as the most-played song on the international Folk DJ charts. This will be Low Lily’s first LI concert appearance.
