Hard Luck Café: The Black Feathers

June 19 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Black Feathers (theblackfeathers.com) will take the stage during the monthly Hard Luck Café concert series co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue, Huntington) in the Cinema’s Sky Room on Wednesday, June 19, from 7pm-10pm

An open mic, for which sign-up is at 6:30pm, precedes the concert.  Tickets are $25 ($20 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) and can be purchased online at cinemaartscentre.org or at the box office now through the evening of the event.

Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler of The Black Feathers

The Black Feathers (Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler) is a Gloucestershire, UK-based husband and wife folk and roots music duo who have drawn comparisons to Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings and The Civil Wars. Their original songs weave in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations, while their on-stage chemistry is riveting.  Americana, folk, and acoustic indie rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands.

Together as both as a musical duo and life partners since 2012, The Black Feathers have amassed a loyal fan base on the other side of the pond and a growing one here. The duo has performed at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and AmericanaFest and secured coveted official showcases at the 2023 Folk Alliance International Conference in Kansas City and those of two of its regional affiliates.  The Black Feathers previously performed an online Hard Luck Café concert in June 2021.
