Hard Luck Café: Jim Whiteman & Lindsay Whiteman

February 18 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Father and daughter Jim Whiteman and Lindsay Whiteman will share the stage at the monthly Hard Luck Café concert co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue, Huntington,  NY) in the Cinema’s Sky Room on Wednesday, February 18, from 7pm-10pm.  These two Long Island singer-songwriters offer a broad range of unique and entertaining original songs.  Tickets are $26 ($20 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) and can be purchased online at cinemaartscentre.org or at the box office now through the evening of the event.

Lindsay Whiteman released her debut album, Quick The Train Is Coming, in late 2025. Her powerful reflections on love and heartbreak beautifully toe the line between folk and pop, with her resonant voice and guitar front and center, along with her insightful songwriting. Lindsay says she writes because “sometimes writing your ex’s name on a plate and smashing it isn’t enough.” Lindsay has opened for Loudon Wainwright III at City Winery in NYC, and for JORDY in Boston. She has also played at the Girls Rising Music Festival, the Stephen Talkhouse, My Father’s Place, Arlene’s Grocery, and Rockwood Music Hall. Lindsay’s music can be found on all streaming platforms.

Jim Whiteman is something of an enigma on the LI music scene. Following a 35-year career in TV news, Jim has made a name for himself by writing and performing a steady stream of highly-charged, troubadour-style songs. Favorite topics include politics and presidents, as well as loved ones — no one gets a pass. Some critics complain Jim’s songs are “too woke,” while admirers have called him “a voice of the people.” To Lindsay, he’s just Dad.

It’s sure to be an interesting night of deeply personal observations from these two local artists…a don’t-miss event!

NOTE:  This month’s concert will be preceded at 6pm by a FMSH General Membership Meeting. Refreshments will be served. All dues-paying FMSH members are encouraged to attend.
