Hard Luck Café: Falcon Ridge Folk Festival “Most Wanted” Emerging Artists Preview Tour

June 18 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Singer-Songwriters Louie Lou Louis, Alex Radus and Tina Ross will share the stage, swap some songs, and join each other on some others, to close out the 2024-2025 Hard Luck Café concert series co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre  (423 Park Avenue, Huntington) in the Cinema’s Sky Room on Wednesday, June 18, from  from 7pm-10pm.  An open mic, for which sign-up is at 6:30pm, precedes the concert.

Tickets are $25 ($20 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) and may be purchased online at cinemaartscentre.org or at the box office through the evening of the show.  One lucky concertgoer will win a free pair of tickets to the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival!

The Hard Luck Café’s three featured singer-songwriters were voted “Most Wanted to Return” by audience members following the Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase at last year’s Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and also will showcase their talents during a Most Wanted Song Swap at this year’s festival, which is slated for July 25-27 at the Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen, Connecticut.

Louie Lou Louis is a Brooklyn-based songster whose uplifting musicality and soothing yet energizing vibe celebrate human imperfection with infectious positivity. Blending folk, jazz, and global influences, the Berklee College of Music graduate inspires joy and connection during his performances. He has also received honors from the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, Great American Song Contest and New England Music Awards.  Says Pamela Hines of WICN Public Radio (Worcester, MA), “We need his stories of love, peace, tolerance, and joy in the simplicity of living a life where we are loved by those around us…”

Alex Radus is a “versatile crooner” (UMC Nashville) and “master guitarist” (Courier News), but his songwriting takes center stage. Known for his signature “genre whiplash,” he blends whimsical and poignant storytelling with an eclectic mix of Americana, swing, blues, and folk. Alex was awarded a youth scholarship to the Augusta Heritage Center in West Virginia, where he honed his distinctive fingerstyle guitar style and deep appreciation for traditional music.  Says John Gorka, with whom he performed as part of the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band: “Alex Radus is a remarkable artist … surely worth going out of your way to hear.”

Tina Ross is a New-York-based singer-songwriter whose music blends contemporary folk with touches of jazz and blues, rooted in reflective lyrical storytelling and emotional depth.  Ross released her acclaimed debut album, While I’m Here, in 2023.  She also won the Focus Music Heyman Rising Artist Award that year, while her song “Summers Like These” appears on Christine Lavin’s The Seasons Project compilation that was released in 2023.  Tina’s talents have been recognized in numerous other competitions, as well.  Writes Jonathan Aird of AmeircanaUK, “Tina Ross is a classy cut of singer-songwriter perfection.”
