SUMMARY:Cliff Eberhardt and special guest Louise Mosrie
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets\n[nicepaypal type=”cart” name=”Eberhardt-Mosrie” quantity=”field;Ticket Qty;1″ option1=”dropprice;type;Select your ticket option;Member:20.00;Non-Member:25.00″] \nPurchase advance tickets for this event using Paypal or your major credit card. Be sure to select the ticket quantity as well as the appropriate ticket type (Member or Non-Member). Note: If you require multiple ticket types (ie: 1 member + 1 non-member ticket)\, please add one type to the cart\, return to the page\, and add the second type separately.\n\n\nCliff Eberhardt has been a fixture on the acoustic singer-songwriter scene for several decades. Part of the Fast Folk Musical Magazine community of artists in New York City during the 1980s\, he recorded for Windham Hill in the 1990s and later for Shanachie and Red House Records. He also was heard on popular commercial jingles for Coke and Chevrolet. Hailed as “One of the most talented musicians on the solo acoustic circuit” (Seattle Post Intelligencer)\, Eberhardt also has had his songs covered by such notable artists as Shawn Colvin\, Cry Cry Cry\, the late Richie Havens (with whom he performed and sang the title cut on his Windham Hill debut\, The Long Road)\, and Buffy Sainte Marie. In 2013\, he received a Helen Hayes Award for sound design in recognition of his original music and performance the previous year in The Taming of the Shrew at Washington\, DC’s Folger Theater. He’s also recorded an album entitled Shrew Songs. \n\nLouise Mosrie is an expressive and soulful southern folk-Americana singer-songwriter whose thoughtful\, refined compositions are highlighted by her warm\, crystalline voice. Although not too keen about the slow\, sleepy ways of doing things in the small rural town in which she grew up\, the melodies and imagery that emerged in her writing comes straight from the culture she once dismissed. Rich Warren of Chicago’s WFMT-FM describes Mosrie as “William Faulkner with a guitar.” Louise has been a winner in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition and a “Falcon Ridge Most Wanted to Return” artist. Her latest release\, 2014’s Lay It Down\, was arranged and produced by Eberhardt.

SUMMARY:Jon Shain & Jessy Tomsko
DESCRIPTION:TICKET INFO\nTickets for this event are available at the Cinema Arts Centre on the day of the performance. Prices are $10 for FMSH and Cinema Arts Centre Members / $15 for Nonmembers. There are no advance tickets for this event. \n\n— Jon Shain —\n\nJon Shain is a veteran singer-songwriter and guitarist who’s been turning heads for years with his words\, his fiery acoustic guitar work\, and his evolved musical style — combining improvised Piedmont blues with bluegrass\, swing\, and ragtime. His newest disc\, a duet album with Joe Newberry entitled Crow the Dawn\, was released in January 2016. Shain grew up in Haverhill\, Massachusetts and resides in Durham\, North Carolina. In addition to recording and performing\, Shain – whose work touches on the trials and tribulations of regular people\, as well as themes of social justice – teaches Piedmont blues guitar and leads songwriting workshops.\n(jonshain.com) \n\n— Jessy Tomsko —\n\nJessy Tomsko is a NYC-based singer-songwriter who originally hails from Philadelphia. Known for her catchy yet genuine and confessional style\, Tomsko is a versatile vocalist\, guitarist\, pianist\, and composer. Although writing and performing primarily in the ever-expanding “folk” genre\, she first began experimenting with songwriting while attending a conservatory and earning a music degree in classical voice performance. Her roots in classical music and musical theater provided Tomsko with a solid musical foundation and inspired her along the way to finding her own voice. Tomsko has independently released several EPs and albums and is working on a new one\, Wild and Good. (jessytomskomsusic.com)
