Blending folk\, jazz\, and global influences\, the Berklee College of Music graduate inspires joy and connection during his performances. He has also received honors from the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival\, Great American Song Contest and New England Music Awards.  Says Pamela Hines of WICN Public Radio (Worcester\, MA)\, “We need his stories of love\, peace\, tolerance\, and joy in the simplicity of living a life where we are loved by those around us…” \nWebsite: https://www.louieloulouis.com \nVideo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F7_t4VClmM \n  \nAlex Radus is a “versatile crooner” (UMC Nashville) and “master guitarist” (Courier News)\, but his songwriting takes center stage. Known for his signature “genre whiplash\,” he blends whimsical and poignant storytelling with an eclectic mix of Americana\, swing\, blues\, and folk. Alex was awarded a youth scholarship to the Augusta Heritage Center in West Virginia\, where he honed his distinctive fingerstyle guitar style and deep appreciation for traditional music.  Says John Gorka\, with whom he performed as part of the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band: “Alex Radus is a remarkable artist … surely worth going out of your way to hear.” \nWebsite: https://www.alexradus.com/ \nVideo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIdgXoCxLrk \n  \nTina Ross is a New-York-based singer-songwriter whose music blends contemporary folk with touches of jazz and blues\, rooted in reflective lyrical storytelling and emotional depth.  Ross released her acclaimed debut album\, While I’m Here\, in 2023.  She also won the Focus Music Heyman Rising Artist Award that year\, while her song “Summers Like These” appears on Christine Lavin’s The Seasons Project compilation that was released in 2023.  Tina’s talents have been recognized in numerous other competitions\, as well.  Writes Jonathan Aird of AmeircanaUK\, “Tina Ross is a classy cut of singer-songwriter perfection.” \nWebsite: https://tinarossmusic.com/ \nVideo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opaj9MD9Vjg

SUMMARY:Hard Luck Café: Jesse Terry
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning Connecticut-based singer-songwriter Jesse Terry will showcase his talents during the monthly Hard Luck Café concert series co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue\, Huntington) on Wednesday\, May 21\, from 7-10 p.m. An open mic\, for which sign-up starts at 6:30 p.m.\, precedes the 8 p.m. concert. Tickets are $25 ($20 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) and may be purchased online at cinemaartscentre.org or at the box office through the evening of the show. \nA true musical journeyman\, Jesse Terry has made it his mission to share his love of music fully and completely\, without regard for shading his emotions or tempering his convictions. The ability to create a connection\, to bare his soul and express his feelings through his heartfelt songs has been the defining thread in a career that began in 2010. “I’m more obsessed with music than ever before\,” says Terry. “I love the idea of bringing something beautiful into the world.” Among the more than a dozen albums and EPs he’s released to date are seven albums of his original songs –- ranging from 2012’s award-winning Empty Seat on a Plane to 2024’s Arcadia\, which has more of a rhythmic rock n’ roll edge to it. \nTerry plays some 150 shows annually (including previous ones for FMSH) and has performed at such notable festivals as Bonnaroo\, 30A Songwriters Festival\, Philadelphia Folk Festival and the Americana Music Association’s AmericanaFest. He’s been a grand-prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and has also secured several song placements on television shows. \nJohn Platt\, host of Sunday Supper on WFUV\, has referred to Jesse Terry as “a force to be reckoned with” and noted\, “His well-crafted songs rank right up there with Ryan Adams…and other masters of alt country.” Writes Nick West of RnR Magazine: “This is music to revel in\, so just revel ’til the starlight fades.” \nGive a listen here to Jesse Terry’s “Burn the Boats”

DESCRIPTION:A Pair of Duos:  Take 2 and Sandy & Steve Edwards will share the stage during the monthly Hard Luck Café concert series co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue\, Huntington) in the Cinema’s Sky Room on Wednesday\, February 19\, from 7pm-10pm.  An open mic\, for which sign-up is at 6:30pm\, precedes the concert.  Tickets are $20 ($15 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) and may be purchased online at cinemaartscentre.org or at the box office through the evening of the show. \n \nCandice Baranello and James O’Malley of Take 2 \nTake 2 features Candice Baranello and James O’Malley\, two talented artists who have each been part of the Long Island acoustic music scene for a number of years. Candice Baranello is an expressive singer and multi-instrumentalist (ukulele\, banjo\, guitar\, and dulcimer) who also is founding member of Mountain Maidens\, a traditional folk trio known for its vocal harmonies accompanied by a wide array of instruments.  James O’Malley has composed some of the most endearing songs around\, and delivers them in heartfelt fashion in a smooth tenor voice and subtle\, intricate guitar style that was influenced by legendary folk guitarist Eric Darling.  O’Malley is a favored performer among LI’s dedicated and discerning listening crowd. His music has been featured on radio stations across the country\, with a new solo album set for release later this year. Take 2 features two dynamic voices coming together to bring their joy into your lives. \n \nSteve & Sandy Edwards \nSandy & Steve Edwards have been playing music together since they met in 1994. Both are singer-songwriters who enjoy accompanying each other and adding sweet harmonies. Along with cover tunes in the folk realm\, this Northport-based married couple play original acoustic music that is a mix of tall tales\, real tales and\, often\, features themes of encouraging the human spirit. A longtime Hank Williams fan\, Steve Edwards was introduced to traditional country music by his dad\, while Sandy Edwards cites Neil Young\, CSN\, James Taylor\, and the Moody Blues as influences. The couple’s writing styles reflect down-to-earth family connections\, fantasies of debauchery\, aspirations of spiritual liberation\, and poking fun at life in general.  The Edwards’ have run open mics and co-ran & performed in Happenings on Main Street in Northport. They frequently played the Acoustic Stage on the Hill during the Long Island Fall Festival in Huntington and have shared their musical talents at several charitable events. Sandy & Steve Edwards recently released a new CD entitled Taking In The Sun.
