SUMMARY:James Maddock – Live-Stream Concert
DESCRIPTION:James Maddock\, an acclaimed NYC-based British singer-songwriter\, will be the featured artist when the Folk Music Society resumes its monthly First Saturday Concerts’ series.  Since the ongoing pandemic prevents the nonprofit organization from hosting in-person concerts\, the concert will be live streamed online via the artist’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/jamesmaddockmusic/) beginning at 8 p.m. There will not be an open mic preceding it.\n“Unlike our live concerts at the Congregational Church of Huntington\, where James has graced our stage twice\, there is no admission fee for this online concert\,” said Michael Kornfeld\, president of the FMSH board of directors. ”However\, like other musicians\, James has had most of his gigs cancelled\, is unable to tour now\, and would appreciate donations via his online tip jar while you are viewing the concert. You can also visit his website (http://www.jamesmaddock.net) and purchase James’ new album\, No Time to Cry\, and/or his previous ones.” \nSince 1999\, James Maddock’s boldly vulnerable songwriting\, honeyed rasp\, and distinct folk and Americana aesthetic have garnered acclaim from icons\, peers\, and taste-making media outlets like NPR\, American Songwriter Magazine\, Relix Magazine\, and CMT Edge.  \n“James Maddock possesses the kind of lived-in\, craggy voice that would sound authoritative if he were singing the sports pages\,” notes Relix. “Fortunately\, he doesn’t need to do that because his compositional skills are a match for his delivery.” His consistency as a recording artist and a captivating live performer has attracted a devoted fan-base. \nA noted songwriter\, raspy voiced crooner and guitarist\, Maddock first gained attention with the band Wood\, whose debut recording\, Songs from Stamford Hill\, was featured prominently on the TV show Dawson’s Creek. After fronting the band\, he moved from England to New York City 17 years ago. It hopes to resume these once it is safe and feasible to do so.
