SUMMARY:Hard Luck Café: Phil Ochs Song Night (feat. Greg Greenway\, Reggie Harris\, and Pat Wictor)
DESCRIPTION:Phil Ochs photo © Robert Berkowitz / RSB Image Works \nA Phil Ochs Song Night featuring Greg Greenway\, Reggie Harris\, and Pat Wictor will close out the 2025-2026 season of the monthly Hard Luck Café concert co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue\, Huntington\,  NY) in the Cinema’s Sky Room on Wednesday\, June 17\, from 7pm-10pm.  Tickets are $32 ($25 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) and can be purchased online at https://cinemaartscentre.org or at the Cinema Arts Centre box office now through the evening of the event. \nPhil Ochs was an American troubadour who passionately believed that he and his music could help change the world. Many of his songs became anthems for the anti-war movement during the turbulent 1960s\, and his music continues to influence and inspire songwriters today – 50 years after his death. Among his best-known songs are “Changes\,” “I Ain’t Marching Anymore\,” “Small Circle of Friends\,” “There But For Fortune\,” and “When I’m Gone.” With the U.S. engaged in another foreign war today as it was in the 1960s\, Phil Ochs’ music is as relevant today as it was then. \nOver the years\, the Folk Music Society has presented several Phil Ochs Song Nights that feature talented artists who perform both Phil’s songs and their own to show that the art of topical songwriting is still alive and well. Singer-Songwriters Greg Greenway\, Reggie Harris and Pat Wictor were part of FMSH’s last one in 2019 and will grace the stage at the Cinema Arts Centre’s Sky Room on June 17. \n  \n \nL-R:  Pat Wictor\, Reggie Harris\, and Greg Greenway \nAbout the evening’s featured artists: \nGreg Greenway – Originally from Richmond\, VA and based in Massachusetts\, Greg combines instrumental expertise\, soulful and moving vocals\, and powerful poetry in his music. A multi-instrumentalist\, he plays guitar\, piano and ukulele. Greg also was part of the folk harmony trio Brother Sun\, performs Deeper Than the Skin shows with Reggie Harris\, and is entirely himself. \nReggie Harris – Hailing from Philadelphia\, Reggie is a songwriter\, an engaging storyteller\, an educator\, and a civil rights advocate. His concert performances are infused with joy\, while his songs rise with echoes of the Civil Rights Movement\, Pete Seeger and Bernice Johnson Reagon. He also performs Deeper Than the Skin shows with Greg Greenway. \nPat Wictor – Born in Venezuela\, Pat has lived all over the world but calls New York home. His otherworldly musicianship has made him a much in-demand studio musician on his passion\, the slide guitar. With flowing red hair and Zen-like calm\, audiences love his understated presence\, his beautiful songs\, and the magic of his slide. Pat was formerly part of the folk harmony trio Brother Sun. \nHere’s a link to view a video of Greg Greenway performing Phil Ochs’ “No More Songs\,” accompanied by Reggie Harris and Pat Wictor during a previous Phil Ochs Song Night presented by FMSH:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj4w9l83Evc \nHere’s a link to view a video of Pat Wictor performing Phil Ochs’ “William Butler Yeats Visits Lincoln Park and Escapes Unscathed” during a previous Phil Ochs Song Night presented by FMSH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1kyPCGXws0 \nAnd here’s one of Phil Ochs’ “What’s That I Hear” performed by Reggie Harris – accompanied by Greg Greenway\, Tom Prasada-Rao and Pat Wictor – during another Phil Ochs Song Night on Long Island: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3APRtoVtqo
