SUMMARY:Hard Luck Café:  A Tribute to Those We've Lost
DESCRIPTION:A Tribute to Those We’ve Lost is the theme of this month’s edition of the Hard Luck Café concert series co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue\, Huntington) in the Cinema’s Sky Room. In this multimedia production\, more than three dozen Long-Island-based artists will perform songs written or popularized by more than two dozen notable songwriters and recording artists who left our world over the past year. A few short videos will be screened as well\, along with images and audio of the artists we’ve lost. \nAmong the artists and songwriters whose works will be covered live are Jimmy Cliff\, Steve Cropper\, Sonny Curtis\, Joe Ely\, Archie Fisher\, Bob Franke\, Michael Hurley\, Tom Lehrer\, John Lodge (The Moody Blues)\, Chuck Mangione\, Raol Malo (The Mavericks)\, Joey Molland (Badfinger)\, Ozzy Osbourne\, Mike Peters (The Alarm)\, Tracy Schwarz\, Jeanne Seely\, Tom Shipley (Brewer & Shipley)\, Todd Snider\, Jill Sobule\, Sly Stone\, Mark Volman (The Turtles)\, Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys)\, Ron Woodbridge (The Searchers)\, Peter Yarrow\, and Jesse Colin Young. \nParticipating performers include Andy Athanas\, Lorraine Berger\, Mike & Susan Christian\, Eric Eaton (with Gina Della Chiesa\, Jennifer Grace\, Mick Greene\, and Tommy Morrison)\, Maria Fairchild\, Gathering Time (Stuart Markus\, Gerry McKeveny & Christine Sweeney)\, Michael Kornfeld\, Ray Lambiase (with Lanny Sichel and Don Gabis)\, Bill Lauter\, Annie Mark & Chris James (with Marian Mastrorilli)\, Marian Mastrorilli (with Glenn Govier)\, Mike & Maggie Mills\, Larry Moser\, Princess Peapod (Dave Cook & Michele Frimmer)\, Gary Schoenberger\, Hank Stone\, Suffolk Shuffle (Richard Parr & Joe Roccanova)\, Take 2 (Candice Baranello & James O’Malley)\, Toby Tobias\, Bob Westcott\, Jim Whiteman\, and Lindsay Whiteman. Videos featuring such artists as Lou Christie\, Dave Cousins (Strawbs)\, Robert John\, Chris Rea\, and Danny Thompson (Pentangle) will be interspersed between the live performances. \nCurated by Michael Kornfeld\, with the much-valued sound & multimedia assistance of Richard Parr\, the concert will extend from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. with a short intermission. There will not be an open mic preceding this month’s show. Tickets are $26 ($20 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) for this benefit for both non-profit organizations\, and may be purchased online at cinemaartscentre.org or at the box office through the evening of the show.
