John Rossbach

JOHN ROSSBACH, born and raised in West Virginia, gained a lifetime of experience with several established Ohio and Kentucky bands. As the mandolin player and lead singer for Bristol Mountain Bluegrass, his prime-time appearance on the Nashville Network was televised coast to coast. He has received five Meet the Composer awards and was the central figure in the PBS documentary Bluegrass Attitude. He has also performed on CBS, the BBC, and the Canadian Broadcasting Systems. The Rounder Records CD, Willow, a 1997 Indie Award nomination for Best Traditional Music by the Woodshed All Stars, highlights John's dynamic guitar style.

His recent release, John Rossbach Never Was Plugged!, features The Burns Sisters, Bill Keith, Charles Sawtelle, the Woodshed All Stars and Chestnut Grove. A crusader for the cause of keeping traditional American music alive, John teaches guitar at the Augusta Heritage Program in West Virginia, and is a former Bluegrass Unlimited reviewer. John's notorious puns, outrageous tall tales, and humorous anecdotes bring groans, guffaws and giggles from audiences of all ages.

CHESTNUT GROVE accompanies John; this quartet of award winning multi-instrumentalists has generated rave reviews and solid airplay all around the world. They mix the mournfulness of mountain ballads with the lilt of highland reels. They add the bounce of boogie woogie to the grit of the country blues. From the grace of old time waltzes to the drive of fiery banjo breakdowns, Chestnut Grove brings the finest in traditional and contemporary bluegrass music!
