BOB WESTCOTT'S 13th ANNUAL
HOLIDAY CONCERT

Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004

To celebrate this Holiday season, our favorite legendary guitarist and singer-songwriter, Bob Westcott, brought his annual revue of talented performers to Huntington. He treated us with a couple of well roasted chestnuts, and then presented his showcase of some of the most talented and exciting performers in the Huntington area. This years' lineup featured:

VICKI GENFANVICKI GENFAN — Vicki has been called the 'Jimi Hendrix of acoustic guitar.' As praised in Acoustic Guitar Magazine, "Her dazzling display of two handed tapping, bell-like harmonics and funky bass note slapping, along with her deft fingerstyle approach, have guitar aficionados in the house sitting slack-jawed in sheer awe." Vicki has been lighting up stages in Europe and the US, transmuting jazz, funk, pop and world music into a contemporary folk alchemy, drawing from a diverse palette of harmonies, rhythms and modal tunings. Studied in both classical and jazz guitar, these elements fuse with grace, passion and charisma to create an electrifying sonic journey of depth, inspiration and pure magic.

JOHN-FLOR SISANTEJOHN-FLOR SISANTE — Singer-songwriter John-Flor, chronologically young but with a seasoned outlook, understands the values of simple melodies and complex lyrics. His guitar work is lovely, and he puts his stamp on songs in surprising, delightful ways - sweet ballads contain bitter centers; acoustic guitars are played with aggression; clever wordplay hides in the lyrics. John-Flor, songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, and pianist, hears the music in all things and brings a refreshing point of view that has not lost a youthful sense of wonder, a blend of acoustic rock, bright pop and cool jazz.

NICK VERMITSKY — A rapid fire, high energy, 12 string guitar fingerpicker virtuoso, Nick Vermitsky peppers his performances with unusual arrangements and quirky jokes. Its been written that "Nick plays with incredible speed and delicacy — he has proved himself an artist of the highest quality". He is a longtime veteran of the folk scene and is well known for his interpretations of artists as diverse as Leo Kottke, Big Bill Broonzy and the Beatles.

This evening was a big treat and give all a merry beginning to the holiday season!
