Jim Caputo is a self-taught guitarist who has been playing for over 20 years. He is an accomplished songwriter, whose long awaited first CD New Lit Sky has just been completed, - mixing purist folk with modern and jazzy styles. Lyrically, Jim's songs make you laugh and make you think - and you can expect to hear a healthy dose of songs about unhealthy relationships. Jim says this is not your father's folk music.
Jim performed at our members concert several years ago and delivered a remarkable solo performance. Tonight, Jim was very much a crowd pleaser again. Our overflow audience really appreciated Jim's voice, melodies and lyrics.
This evening, Jim was accompanied by Jack Walker on keyboard and vocals.
A talented young keyboard player, Sarah Haddock is one of those superlative performers who leave you breathless after listening to just one song, and tonight she delivered two handfulls worth. Her witty and intelligent lyrics are framed by melody lines which are at once familiar and refreshingly different, all wrapped up in her voluptuous vocal styles. Her songs are vehicles for her incisive commentary on modern relationships.
Sarah is held in great esteem by her peers in the Island Songwriters Showcase and has been featured in several songwriter-in-the-round events including Sundays at Seven. Those who came tonight to her Hard Luck debut saw why she makes such a lasting impact on everyone who is lucky enough to hear one of her extraordinary performances. Her strong voice, keyboard talents and thoughtful lyrics are likely to lead her to a national career.
Remember that you saw her here first !
