Since forming several years ago, the exquisite harmonies of the a cappella group Wild Ginger have been thrilling audiences in the Huntington area. Each of the four women in the group brought her own tone and influence to the blend of contemporary and ancient ballads and spirituals which have become the hallmark of their performances.
Wild Ginger is Candy Baranello, Caren Jacobs, Maureen Keelty and mostly recently, Jane Roth, who adds her guitar playing to several songs. The group has been featured at the Bob Westcott Annual Holiday Review and the Sundays at Seven series, to the delight of their ever-growing legion of fans. Wild Ginger is proof that the whole can be even more wonderful than the sum of its parts.
A rapid fire, high energy, 12 string guitarist, Nick Vermitsky peppers his performances with unusual arrangements and quirky jokes. He is a longtime veteran of the New England folk scene and is well known for his interpretations of artists as diverse as Leo Kottke, Big Bill Broonzy and the Beatles.
Nick was recently featured in this year's Folk Music Society of Huntington Member's Concert and this was a rare chance to hear him in such an personal setting.
