RICH STEIN

Fingerstyle guitarist Rich Stein has the distinction of having been the first insrumentalist featured at the Hard Luck Cafe. His electrifying guitar style has brought him fame and critical acclaim, especially from other guitarists — and his set was acclaimed by our full house audience.

Rich has spent years performing in New York City, but has now been very pleasantly surprised by the support he's received in the Huntington area. He was recently featured in the 'Northport Sundays at Seven' program, and his CD Hands ON beautifully showcases his astonishing guitar work.

SONNY MEADOWS

Local legend Sonny Meadows made his Hard Luck debut. Sonny has been called Long Island's most creative topical songwriter and Long Island's version of Tom Waits. His gravelly voice projects wickedly funny or quietly poignant lyrics. He opened his act with a brilliantly moving attack on war, entitled simply War, and then changed pace with his final performance of his love paeon to Amy Fisher. His set was alternately funny, warm, thoughtful, funny, moving, exhilarating, and funny — a great time was had by all.

Sonny has presented a unique blues/Folk/soap opera, An American Inquisition — Tales of a Navy Blue Dress several times this past winter, featuring a dozen local musicians as notorious Washington characters. He has also been nominated in the Folk category for the First Long Island Music Awards.
