In lieu of our usual Hard Luck Cafe concert, and in the spirit of community that folk music embraces, the Folk Music Society of Huntington partners with NorthShore Original Open Mic (NOOM) and the Cinema Arts Centre (CAC) in inviting local artists to perform their original songs at a virtual open mic that will be livestreamed to FMSH's YouTube channel and NOOM's Facebook page on Thursday, December 16 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Hard Luck Café: No Fuss and Feathers

The monthly Hard Luck Café concert series co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre in the Cinema's Sky Room (423 Park Avenue, Huntington) resumes on Wednesday, October 19, from 7-10pm, and will take place on the third Wednesday of each month.

David Crosby — A Celebration (1941-2023)

Singer-Songwriter David Crosby, who passed away in January at age 81, was part of the iconic folk-rock groups The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. “Just Wild About Harry” Chapin Concert Set for July 16

More than three-dozen of Long Island’s top musicians and songwriters will take to the stage at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow to perform the music of Harry Chapin, the late Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and social activist, on Sunday, July 16, starting at 3:30 p.m. and extending late into the evening. The annual “Just Wild About Harry” tribute concert will feature 25 or more acts -- including concert organizer Stuart Markus and his trio Gathering Time -- performing some of Chapin’s classics including “Taxi” and “Cat’s in the Cradle,” plus many lesser hits and fan favorites like “WOLD” and “Story of a Life.” The concert is free, but concertgoers are asked to bring donations of nonperishable food to support Long Island Cares, Inc., the regional food bank founded by Chapin in 1980.

Huntington Folk Festival

The 17th annual Huntington Folk Festival is set for Saturday, July 22, at Heckscher Park, located off Main Street (Route 25A) and Prime Avenue, in Huntington, NY.  Extending from 12:30 -10 p.m., with a dinner break from 6-7:15 p.m., the free event is co-presented by the Huntington Arts Council, Folk Music Society of Huntington and AcousticMusicScene.com as part of the 58th Huntington Summer Arts Festival produced by the Town of Huntington. An evening concert featuring internationally touring singer-songwriters Lucy Kaplansky and Cliff Eberhardt will be preceded by a series of amplified song swaps and an open mic during the afternoon.
